Roxy Music front man Bryan Ferry has opened an exhibition from his personal art collection at the London International Fine Art Fair.

The exposition entitled Modern British Masters: Pictures from the Bryan Ferry Collection opens today at the Olympia and showcases the works of Vanessa bell, Augustus John and Walter Sicket.

The iconic singer has revealed he decided to concentrate on procuring art works from around the turn of the century so that they married well with the antique character of his house.

Ferry said: “They seem to suit the house I have in Sussex.

“If I lived in a Manhattan apartment I suppose I might have collected more contemporary things, but as it is my house is Victorian/Edwardian so much of it is modern British. I thought I would specialise in this area.”

The former art student and teacher also revealed that he keeps an eye on the contemporary art scene and admires the likes of Damien Hurst and Jeff Koons, but added: “It is like music, there is a lot of it about, so most of it is bad.”
