Talking at this year’s RockNess festival Enter Shikari recalled how they nearly came to a watery end with Nessie on a previous trip to the mammoth Scottish festival.

The rockers who hail from St Albans, were one of the standout performers this weekend, but they very nearly never made it back to the festival after a mid-night swim in the Loch Ness nearly ended in catastrophe.

Guitarist Rory Clewlow explained, “The last time we came here was a few years ago.”

“We took a swim in Loch Ness, thinking that it was going to be bearable, so we just jumped off the pier straight into the deep water and almost died.”

“Well the challenge was to jump off the pier and swim round these rocks without getting dashed on to the rocks, but I was just doggy-paddling. I think the doggy paddle’s always a safe bet.”

Bassist Chris Batten said the band grossly underestimated the freezing waters saying, “We abandoned ship on rocks about halfway through. We just couldn’t hack it.”

The lads have also revealed this week they are to play a number of low key ‘intimate’ dates around the UK.

The band will return from a gruelling American tour to play the Redfest festival in Surrey as a warm-up for their support slot on The Prodigy’s titanic Milton Keynes Bowl show the following day. Followed by dates in Preston and Bath respectively.

Their tour dates now read as follows:

JULY
FRIDAY 23 – REDFEST (headline) – Redhill, Surrey
SATURDAY 24 – MILTON KEYNES – Bowl (with The Prodigy, Pendulum etc)
MONDAY 26 – LONDON – Camden Underworld

AUGUST

THURSDAY 19 – BATH – Pavillion (+ The King Blues)
