Jack White has defended his ex-wife’s drumming style ahead of the White Stripes’ new live album and movie release.

The Detroit rockers have since gone their seperate ways with Jack forming bands The Raconteurs and Dead Weather leaving Meg off the scene.

But the Icky Thump duo are hitting the silver screen this week with the release of Under Great White Northern Lights live concert film and cd.

Critics have slated Meg’s technical prowess on the skins for years, but Jack hit back saying she inspires people to play and ‘wins every time.’

Look out for news of a special Purple Revolver screening of Under Great Northern Lights in Liverpool next month.

Jack said: “She can do what those with technical prowess can’t. She inspires people to bash on pots and pans.

“For that, they repay her with gossip and judgement. In the end she’s laughing to the Prada handbag store. She wins every time.

“Her femininity and extreme minimalism are too much to take for some metal heads and reverse-contrarian hipsters.”

Jack went on to say that it would be ‘strange’ when The White Stripes did eventually perform together again.
