Pete Doherty builds up Libertines return at Reading and Leeds

Pete Doherty has promised fireworks at Reading and Leeds Festival this year for as The Libertines reunite for the headline slots.

Carl Barat and Pete have managed to reconcile after lengthy talks and have decided to reform with the full line-up after six year hiatus.

The band disintegrated in 2004 at the peak of their success, when Barat and Doherty fell out over the latter’s uncontrollable behaviour and his dependency on heroin and crack cocaine.

Following a solo performance at Hop Farm Festival in Paddock Wood, Kent, Pete was feeling positive that his band would live up to the heightened expectations.

The Babyshambles rocker said, “This is definitely one of my best gigs for ages. It’s just a taster of what is to come at Reading and Leeds.”

Pete was joined on the bill by legends Van Morrison who played out his hits Brown Eyed Girl and Moondance to a jubilant audience.

Bob Dylan also made an appearance and defied the musical years on the Saturday, playing through a back catalogue that included fan favourites Just Like a Woman and Blowin’ in the Wind.
