Synth punk rockers Friendly Fires stole the show at Creamfields last night with a blistering performance.

Having rocked Reading festival already this weekend, the St. Albans trio were keen to top that performance on their Creamfields debut on the Mixmag Terrace.

Their penultimate hit song ‘Paris’ got the crowd whipped up into full voice before the sirens went off and the drums were pounded to death in the encore as frontman Ed MacFarlane danced his heart out on stage.

The band have been nominated for the Mercury music prize but were coy when asked about their chances of winning. “We don’t want to jinx it,” said guitarist Ed Gibson.
